My bike ride into work was great today! I forgot to mention yesterday that I fixed 2 punctures and removed 2 huge thorns from my rear wheel. :( I also cleaned up the sprocket set, derailleur and sorted the brakes. I don’t know why I haven’t done it sooner!
I did some slip casting today. Really awkward shape - lots of annoying things such as a vacuum of slip always getting trapped in the same place and splitting occurring at the base every time. I think I’ve overcome it but won’t know until the pieces are bone dry and fired. Ho hum.
Tomorrow night is the opening night of my student’s final year exhibition. It’s a dress up and party type affair so I’m going to do my best to take some dressy clothes in on my bike in the morning so I can get changed at work in the evening. If I can’t fit it all in I’ll have to give up and come home in the afternoon.
Happy Birthday Grandad!
Well, tonight we had a friend over for dinner. I made macaroni cheese with ham and sweetcorn and profiteroles. Unfortunately I have a blocked nose so couldn’t taste most of it but it seemed to go down well.
I tried to fix a puncture in my bike tyre earlier but it seems that the patches I had were just too past their best. I’ll go and get some more tomorrow and try again.
I forgot to post yesterday! We went out on the motorbike to Ashby Folville for the first car and bike meet of the season. There were quite a few people there but is was by no means packed!
This morning, aside from nearly getting caught starkers by my colleague, who decided to pop round for a cuppa pre-9am whilst I was wandering round the house nekkid, I have managed to empty the living room of all furniture! This is in preparation for shampooing the carpet - a job that badly needs doing. In clearing the room I found a dead mouse. Goodness only knows how long it’s been there but at least it was solid and not mushy!! I’ve since filled the vacuum cleaner to it’s max mark - shameful, I know - and am now sneezing from all the dust!
Just had an amazing rideout on the back of Simon’s new bike. We went to the Saltbox Cafe with friends. I’m now really sleepy!
Here’s our route out:
Off into town in a bit to get Simon a ‘hideous jacket’ as part of a costume… I’ll attempt to get a photo! :o)
Well, I really didn’t get a minute to myself to do yesterday’s blog post as I was so busy all day! Even when I got home it was: Make Tea, Eat Tea, Straighten Hair, Make-Up on, Go Out!!
Still, it’s nice to be busy…
That said, I’m off for a motorbike ride coupled with breakfast out, now.
NOM!
Well, I stayed in my PJs until 10am today, but it wasn’t an unproductive morning. I went through a load of paperwork, sent a load of emails and did some tidying.
This afternoon, I worked in the garden for a bit, then went for a lovely walk and a coffee with friends Rich and Jess and still managed to get back in the light. I carried on working in the garden until dusk and then came inside to cook tea.
Simon washed his new bike whilst I was outside and then came in to have a shave and clean-up, before eating and then starting to record some content for his new tech vlog: TechRoyale. (He’s editing and uploading as I write this, so check back if it’s still not up!)
Now, it’s a bit of telly then bed… I have the start of a sore throat, which I hope is nothing but I am going to take some hot lemon, honey and ginger to bed.
Well, today has been productive and fun.
I’ve done about 6 loads of washing, after having all the bedding and towels out for New Year’s visitors. I’ve also done the first ‘big shop’ of 2012. Tesco was rammed. (I hate stupid people in supermarkets - Please don’t stop for a chat in the centre of the aisle, it’s annoying!)
Simon and I also went out on the bike for The Victoria Biker’s Pub annual Brass Monkey Run. I didn’t take any pics as my fingers were too cold to work the camera! I’m sure I’ll find some that I can link to soon.
It’s my first day back at work tomorrow after 2 weeks off. I’ll be in on my own as everyone else has got this week off, too. Still, should get loads done. I’ll see how many kilns I can load tomorrow to keep warm! Got to do a wax burnout, too, ready for a glass cast later in the week.
